Sharks are one of the most mezmerizing species on earth. A record breaking evolutionary creature cannot be anything but amazing, with an anatomy which has been improved over those million years of evolution. Sharks are a type of fish with a full cartilaginous skeleton and a highly streamlined body. They have habited our planet for more than 450 million years and that single fact makes them unique.
Since that time, sharks have diversified into almost 400 species, ranging in size from the small Dwarf lanternshark, Etmopterus perryi, a deep sea species of only 6.7 in. (17cm.) in length, to the whale shark, Rhincodon typus, the largest fish, which reaches approximately 39ft. (12 m) and which feeds only on plankton, squid, and small fish by filter feeding.
Sharks are found in all seas and are common down to depths of 6,600 ft. (2,000 m.) They generally do not live in freshwater, with a few exceptions such as the bull shark and the river shark which can live both in seawater and freshwater. Global Fish Mounts offer incredible reproductions of multiple types of sharks (see below).
